The Hundred Years of Peace Project
This is a foundational grass roots project for Vision-Peace to support continuous development of other Vision-Peace projects by and for children. In The Hundred Years of Peace Project children will accumulate and record the time they spend doing Peace Practices (to a maximum of 10 minutes per day per person) from Vision-Peace with the goal of acquiring collectively a full 100 years of peace vision.
The second goal milestone will be to carry this through to the 7th Generation Project - 300 years. The project will form the basis of communication and enrollment among children, educators, families, and others interested in becoming involved to support Vision-Peace. Times will be reported on this web-site in minimum increments of 30 minutes by individuals and groups. Currently send email until technology has been developed to capture and report on accumulated times. The project will be open to contribution by children everywhere it is permitted.
Roles for Children:
Vision-Peace Ambassador - Each child contributing 300 minutes of peace practices will receive recognition as a Vision-Peace Ambassador and will receive an acknowledgement and information package on how to give presentations on Vision-Peace Projects to classrooms and community organizations. Ambassadors must have a sponsor, either a parent, grandparent, teacher, guardian or community leader in order to receive recognition via a notice form sent to this site.Vision-Peace Project Leader - Ambassadors who conduct a minimum of 10 presentations can become a Vision-Peace Project Leader and will receive training to propose, initiate, and carry out selected Vision-Peace projects. Project leaders require the support of a sponsor who will also receive training.
Roles for Teachers:
Classroom Study: Teachers using Vision-Peace in the classroom can contribute to the Curriculum guide being developed in any of the theme areas.Classroom or Whole School Vision-Peace Projects: Teachers can take a lead role in developing specific vision-peace projects for the classroom and will receive Vision-Peace project training. Opportunities for project recognition will be developed. Projects and success stories will be show-cased on this site.
Opportunity exists to link both classroom study and theme-linked Vision-peace projects with mandated curriculum for planning, organizing, goal-setting, team spirit, celebrating achievement and results, media & communications literacy, social responsibility, global citizenship, social and cultural studies, music & art programs and environmental study. These offer a variety of ways to merge required teaching with rich creative content and curriculum enrichment.
Roles for Parents, Grandparents, Community Organizations, Others, Youth Leaders
Vision-Peace Projects: Projects which have a minimum of 12 children contributing led by an interested sponsor will also be recognized and showcased.
Vision-Peace Youth Leaders - Youth aged 16-24 who complete the minimum of 300 minutes peace practices and become Vision-Peace Ambassadors can opt to take on support roles for large projects and/or lead and develop projects with community, school groups, or business organizations. They will receive project leader training.
Roles for Sponsors:
Businesses who want to contribute technology, project funds, media support, awards, music and media production and other kinds of support have an opportunity to nourish and grow the creative vision of a generation of independent youth looking for ways to make a better world and showcase their talents and commitment via Vision-Peace projects. As well connecting with Vision-Peace can showcase a commitment to ethical values.
