Peace Practises for Children are a series of short meditations and reflections for children prepared by Arupa Tesolin which can be used for personal practice or classroom practice and can contribute time towards  "The Hundred Years of Peace Project".

VISION-PEACE MEDITATION:  Close your eyes and imagine you are in the land of Vision-Peace.  See the rising cliffs, the soft sand, the silvery air and the reflecting pool.  See yourself as one of the children gathering together and see the others joining you.   Join hands with them as they and you begin to sing the song without words.  

PEACE MEDITATION:  Go to a quiet place and close your eyes.  Feel peace inside yourself and once you feel it, let the feeling expand until it completely fills up the space in your body and then extends around it.  See this peace expanding in your room, in your home, to your family members.  Then let it expand beyond your home, into your community, and then into your city, into your province, or state, and your country.  Finally let it expand into the whole world, the atmosphere, and beyond.

THE ENVIRONMENT MEDITATION:  Sit outside in a quiet place, or look out of a window into the environment around you.  See the trees and flowers.  See them as yourself and them in so they become part of you.  See the rocks and earth and ground as yourself and let them in so they become part of you.  See the sky and clouds.  Let them in so they become part of you.  See and hear the wind and the birds, and other natural life as yourself and let them in so they become a part of you.  Know yourself as all of the environment.

BREATHING MEDITATION:  Close your eyes and focus your attention on your breath.  Watch your breath going in and coming out.  Every time it goes in see it filling up your mind, heart and body with luminous energy.  You can picture this as a brilliant sunshine.  As you breathe out see all your concerns going out too.  Continue visualizing this brilliant in-breath and out-breath until you feel filled with sunshine and calm.

HEART BEAT MEDITATION:  Place your hand on your chest over your heart.  Feel the rhythm of your heart pumping and just listen to it until all other distractions fall away and you feel quiet.

LOVING KINDNESS MEDITATION:  Close your eyes and imagine a big circle and in this circle a very kind and loving presence, a presence so large and so loving that it includes the whole human race as one family.  Feel this love and kindness inside yourself too as you move to the center of the circle to join in.  As you join you feel the radiance of love, kindness, and care going out to all beings everywhere, all animals, all life.

HEALING MEDITATION:  Imagine yourself as a perfectly created new baby and see every cell in your body as being bathed in blue light or another colour that feels best for you.  See this colour extending through your whole body and waking up all the cells to be at their most perfect. Then having perfected yourself send this healing energy to the whole world until you see it as being perfectly healed.

SOUND MEDITATION:   Do the Vision-Peace Meditation the first time you do this.  And in this meditation let a sound or word come to you that is very good for you.  Then just repeat this sound over and over letting all other thoughts drop away.
